BTS star Jungkook has been undergoing a tattoo cover-up process that started before his military enlistment. Wanting to replace some impulsive early tattoos with fresh, meaningful designs, Jungkook’s tattoo artist recently shared insights into the challenging journey.
The artist revealed that Jungkook initially felt insecure about showing his inked arms, often hiding them with full sleeves or makeup, especially in summer. “When we first met, he was very self-conscious and embarrassed to wear short sleeves,” the artist explained, describing their shared goal as the “Short-Sleeve in Summer Project.”
Covering up Jungkook’s previous tattoos wasn’t easy. The artist said the old designs had more damage than photos suggested, limiting the options for cover-ups. The intricate process caused him stress severe enough to trigger hair loss. He emphasized he wasn’t seeking attention by sharing these details but wanted to express the responsibility he felt working on such a high-profile project.
About 70% of the work was completed before Jungkook’s enlistment, with the rest ongoing around his busy schedule. Fans eagerly await the final transformation of the BTS idol’s tattoo journey.
